Stop Rushing

I tell myself: stop rushing.

Rather than sit in sadness, uneasiness, frustration … my mind stirs

I don’t have to feel like this, I say, as if emotions are a problem to be resolved.

If I just do this then the negativity will go away, and it does, for a while,

but even I know it’s only a temporary solution.

Sometimes I can convince myself that I’m achieving a task I set out to complete.

After a while the emptiness returns and I realise all seeking is futile.

There is nothing and nowhere like the present moment.

Even if we were afforded the ability to live infinite lives, eventually we would return to the one we are living.

The one with unknowns.

How lucky to not know what’s going to happen.

There aren’t many true surprises in life.

Stop rushing.
